From the Advocate:
More drug overdoses were reversed and fewer drug overdoses were reported in 2016, according to preliminary data provided to The Advocate.
The combination may be saving lives in Licking County.
As of mid-December, nine overdose deaths had been confirmed in Licking County for 2016, the Licking County Coroner’s Office said. There were 25 such deaths, nine of which involved heroin, in 2015.
While the number of people dying from drug overdoses decreased, the number of times Naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, was used to reverse the effects of an opiate overdose increased across the county.
