Nursing shortage impacts southern Illinois

Illinois’ economy has had a big impact on lots of businesses, especially healthcare. With more people leaving the state, it’s brought a shortage of nurses to the region. But that’s only one part of the puzzle.

They work around the clock, providing hands-on care to patients.

But southern Illinois hospitals have seen a steady flow of nurses leave the job.

“The stress level of our direct patient care providers is at an all-time high,” said King.
