New system sends patient data from the scene to emergency room

From the Daily Courier:

Central Yavapai Fire District recently taught its trainers how to use the new Electronic Patient Care Reporting System to send patient information from the scene to CYFD servers and to the hospital where the patient will be treated, said Charlie Cook, spokesman for the Central Yavapai Fire District.

To get electrocardiogram information to the hospital, firefighters used to take a photo of the EKG strip with a cell phone and email it to Yavapai Regional Medical Center so they would be ready for the patient, Tharp said.

The new EPCR system will send the information from the EKG strips and the entire patient record to CYFD servers and will be able to send it to YRMC when they get their EPCR system up, Tharp said.
