Emergency room physician warns parents of increase in hand, foot, mouth disease

From MassLive:

Physicians, in the emergency department physician at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, have been seeing an increased number of cases of hand, foot and mouth disease in recent weeks.

The disease — not the same as foot and mouth disease affecting cloven-hoofed animals — is a mild, contagious viral infection common in young children, is characterized by sores in the mouth and a rash on the hands and feet.
