ED evacuated after nurse “set off a can containing pepper spray”

From the Palm Beach Post:

The pediatric emergency room at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach has reopened after it was evacuated this morning when a nurse accidentally set off a can containing pepper spray, a hopsital (sic) spokesman said.

West Palm Beach Fire Rescue crews were called to the hospital on 45th Street just before 10 a.m. in response to a hazardous condition. Hazardous materials crews cleaned the pediatric emergency room and it was reopened this afternoon, hospital spokesman Ryan Lieber said.

A box containing the can of pepper spray ended up in the emergency room and a nurse accidentally opened the pepper spray, a city police spokesman said.
