Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville went into mass casualty mode Friday evening, after a tornado tore through nearby Holton.
The hospital received at least six patients. Three of the patients suffered life-threatening injuries. The other three had less-serious injuries.
“We have called in extra staff at this point in time. They’re coming in to the emergency department, and we’re ready to accept as many as we need to at this point,” said hospital president and CEO Tim Putnam.
